Guru Purnima is celebrated mainly by the Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists\nas a day to thank the teachers who have helped to shape up the personal,\nprivate, and well as the spiritual growth of an individual. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Significance of Guru Purnima<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>On the first full moon on the summer solstice, in the month of Ashadha that is July-August, Guru Purnima falls on the day of the Shakha Samavat in the Hindu calendar. This sacred day illuminates the powers of Lord Shiva &#8211; the Adiyogi himself, as it marks the transmission of the holy yogic sciences of his wisdom to the Saptarishis or the seven sages- the first disciples. Among all the relationships, Guru (teacher) and Shishya (student) celebrate the highest regards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guru is a Sanskrit word which means \u201cthe\ndispeller of darkness\u201d, or a medium to carry your thought and align it with the\nuniverse effectively. A guru is somebody who makes your life easier, your day\u2019s\nlighter, and your mind free of the complications or any temporary hindrances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guru Purnima 2019<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>On 16th July 2019, the total lunar eclipse or the Chandra Grahan, the day shows it\u2019s occurrence worldwide. This is the day of the pure joy to the sincere aspirant. Cleanse your body, and re-energize your soul with positive affirmations, productive and clear decisions on the fortunate occasion of this day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Behold the entire universe as the Guru Swarup or the reflection of your Guru\/Guide. Self-transformation has only been possible because of the sheer efficacy, and enforcement of the science of Yoga. Guru alone is known to be the one who can break the cords of attachment from the sufferings, and allows the aspirants to be free by releasing them from the shackles of life, or trammels of earthly existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hindu followers celebrate this day as the birth\nanniversary of the Ved Vyasa &#8211; the author of Mahabharata, Vedas, Puranas.\nWhile, Buddhists worship Lord Buddha on this day who gave his first sermon on\nthis holy day &#8211; a full moon night five weeks after achieving enlightenment\nunder the Bodhi Tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is the day when you can be your own beacon, by\nreconnecting yourself with the light of the Guru. Offer your gratitude, and receive the blessings from your Gurus by doing intense Japas of the Guru mantras or Istha mantra. Meditation and dhyana practices on this day are considered extremely beneficial for one\u2019s own life and aura. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Use of milk, fruits, rigorous prayer\nsessions, or studying Brahma Sutra during the Chaturmasa will be highly\nbeneficial. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Become a personification of\nreceptivity, and let-go off of the ego or the negative emotions, qualities,\nhabits permanently from your life. On this day, purify and progress\nsubstantially with the Pranayama exercises. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Wear a white or a saffron color cloth\nduring the Puja Vidhi, and donate food or a new garment to pandits or Brahmins.\nYou can even help some beggars or animals on the streets as a deed of karma. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>&nbsp;If you don\u2019t have any spiritual Guru, you can\nworship and chant for Rishi Vyas to bestow his blessings upon you. This is the\nday to thank your academic teachers, family, and friends as well. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some people also worship Lord Vishnu after\nkeeping a Satya Narayan Vrat or Fast for an entire day. Worshippers end the day\nby offering Mangal Aarti, and not consume any cereal-based dishes, rice or salt\nduring the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflect the glorious light of the Atman by the\nfire of service and <em>sadhana<\/em>. Witness\nthe divinity of the universal energies with the dazzling light of the moon. A\nguru is the one who finds a link under the dualities of variety and\ndiversification. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember the creator, and adore all the Gurus in\nyour life. May their blessings shower upon you all on this full moon night when\nyou meditate and attract the goodness of nature.
